This past October, we photographed a Carousel Museum wedding.
Wait…a what?
Well, first I should tell you that Bristol, Connecticut is home to The New England Carousel Museum. Here’s a bit more about the museum:
The New England Carousel Museum is dedicated to the acquisition, restoration, and preservation of operating carousels and carousel memorabilia and the creation of new carousel material, for the education and pleasure of the general public. The main mission of the New England Carousel Museum, a non-profit organization, is to preserve and protect antique wooden carousels and carousel pieces. We believe that the way to accomplish this task is through education. We are in the business of educating the children, who are the next generation of carousel lovers.
We didn’t really know what to expect, but any couple that chooses to have their wedding in a carousel museum surely must be awesome, right? And Shea and Jay were, indeed, AWESOME. There was nothing “ordinary” about the day – from Shea’s beautiful, pale lavender wedding dress, to the giant bunch of balloons that were released over the couple, right after saying their vows. Oh, and the vintage board game-themed reception – every detail spoke to exactly who Shea and Jay are – unique, fun-loving, laid-back and genuinely wonderful people.
Family and friends surrounded the couple, sharing in the joy of the day. I’m still blown away when I think about Jay and his siblings, because there are – are you ready? – EIGHT OF THEM! And every one of them, including Mom and Dad, were ear-to-ear smiles for the whole day. Shea’s brothers and parents also shared in the happiness of the day, along with Shea’s son and daughter (such awesome, adorable, well-behaved kids).
Shea and Jay, we can’t thank you enough for allowing us to be a part of your day. It was an honor to be able to capture your unique wedding, in photographs that we hope you’ll treasure for years and years to come. Our very best wishes to all of you!!
Love how you captured all the details of the bride getting ready. The use of natural light is perfect! And the carousel museum is an awesome location for a wedding! Great work!
